Apexum Ltd. has developed a family of miniature, minimally invasive surgical tools, facilitating highly innovative methods for the treatment of Periapical Lesions, associated with root canal infections.
The core technology of the company allows the removal of the lesion in a minimally invasive fashion, achieving faster healing kinetics and better healing rate than standard root canal treatment, without the need for a costly and complicated apicoectomy operation.
In Accordance with FDA Requirements, the company recently completed recruitment and treatment of 100 clinical study patients. Interim results from 54 patients with 3 month follow up and 41 patients with 6 months follow up, show a substantial improvement in both healing kinetics and the healing rate of Periapical Lesions compared with traditional root canal treatments. Results for 3 months follow up indicate that there was a 96% healing rate experienced at the study group compared to 32% in the control group. Results for 6 month follow up indicate similar positive results, with a 95% healing rate experienced at the study group compared to 41% in the control group.
Upon the successful completion of the trial Apexum will apply to FDA for approval of the device.
