We are proud to announce that Incentive – Peregrine’s Technological Incubator was awarded Best Incubator of 2008 by the Israeli Chief Scientist’s Office, and that Valtech Cardio Ltd., one of Peregrine’s portfolio companies, was awarded Best Company of 2008.
The Israeli Chief Scientist grants these two awards every year, and the nominees are chosen out of 25 technological incubators and more than 400 companies.
Incentive – Peregrine’s Technological Incubator and Valtech Cardio Ltd received the awards at the Chief Scientist’s annual ceremony, which was held by the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor in Ashkelon, on March 25th, 2009. Ashkelon was chosen as the venue, as a show of solidarity with the people of southern Israel living under threat of missile attacks from the Gaza Strip.
Incentive – Peregrine’s Technological Incubator
Incentive – Peregrine’s Technological Incubator received the award for its distinguished achievements in promoting early stage ventures, following a thorough and strict review process held by the Technological Incubators Administration at the Israeli Chief Scientist’s Office. The resolution was based on a number of objective parameters, including the following:
§ Quality of the companies that were chosen for investment by the incubator. The Administration was looking for incubators that chose companies with technological superiority, stable development in line with budget restrictions, good financial control, business development activities, relevance to the market and more.
§ Quality of the management team. The management team of Peregrine, which includes the Incentive team, supports the daily operations of the incubator, as well as the daily operations of each portfolio company. They assist and supervise the companies’ R&D progress, their business development activities, market penetration, financial aspects and budget planning.
§ Number of successful companies: More than 85% of the companies that exited Incentive – Peregrine’s Technological Incubator raised significant subsequent investments, mostly from Venture Capital firms, strategic partners and private investors.
§ Number of investments in companies that have graduated the incubator in the past few years, and number of companies that the incubator managed throughout the Incubator’s term of operation.
§ Number of external investments in companies, and average external investment amounts per company throughout the Incubator’s term of operation.
§ Recruitment rate by the incubator of companies that have graduated the incubator in the past few years, and companies that raised funds throughout the incubator’s term of operation.
§ Average investment per company in the past few years (projects that have been completed and projects that have been completed and raised funds)
§ Products sales per companies that that have graduated the incubator in the past few years.

Valtech Cardio Ltd.
Valtech Cardio Ltd is developing a Percutaneous Annuloplasty ring valve repair for the treatment of Mitral Valve Regurgitation. Using a simple catheterization process for implementing the device which treats Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Valtech's treatment will be an alternative to the invasive open heart procedures that are currently in use today.
