ACQUIRED - In March 2007, US company Optium Corporation (Nasdaq:OPTM), which supplies high performance optical subsystems for the telecom and cable TV industries, acquired Kailight Photonics, Inc.
Kailight Photonics has developed optical components and modules for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) applications.
Kailight's technology platform and products enable the operation of fast, multi-wavelength, and transparent all-optical networks. The company's first product, a multi-wavelength all-optical lambda converter, is designed to overcome channel blocking, to allow simple interoperability between network equipments of different suppliers and to better exploit the network resources and available bandwidth.
By enabling all-optical processing of digital signals, Kailight's patent protected technologies improve the flow of signals through the network, while reducing the cost burdens encumbering existing electronic solutions. |
