JoinTech-Med Ltd. aims to create a novel intra-articular device designed to reduce intra-articular pressure, as well as continuous evacuation of inflammatory mediators from painful-effused knees in certain joint diseases (e.g. degenerative joint disease- osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatic knee joint diseases like rheumatoid arthritis).

By doing so, pain will be decreased (by decreasing the capsular irritation caused by the increased pressure and inflammation), life quality might be improved, and disease propagation (i.e. chondral destruction by the inflammatory process) might be decelerated (thus delaying the need for total joint arthroplasty).

JoinTech's main focus is on patients that suffer from painful knee arthritis with effusion, in their fifth or sixth decade (thus too young for knee replacement surgery). The estimated number of patients in the US alone that suffer from this form of Arthritis stands at approx. 9.5M. The arthritis is usually bilateral, so the number of knees suitable for the procedure exceeds, by far 9.5 M.
