Peregrine portfolio company OutSense raised $2.2 million in Series A funding from Peregrine Ventures to advance its AI-powered technology for continuous health monitoring through the analysis of human waste. OutSense has developed a non-invasive sensor that attaches to a standard toilet and uses multispectral optical sensing, computer vision and AI to analyze stool and urine automatically. The company’s initial clinical applications include detecting hidden blood in stool as an early indicator of colorectal cancer, as well as monitoring conditions such as dehydration and urinary tract infections.
